Dear Christian Milan,

On behalf of the staff of the Admissions Office, I welcome your interest in our School of Law .

Please review the following announcements and be sure to contact me or any staff member with questions you may have. We look forward to receiving and reviewing your application.

Sincerely,

Director of Admissions

October 15 is First Date to Apply for Admission

The Admissions Office will begin accepting applications for admission to the Fall 2008 entering class on October 15. The Admissions Committee will begin reviewing applications in the order in which they are received and completed, so applying early is advised. The Committee expects to mail the first round of acceptance letters by November 20.

Preparing (and Strengthening) Your Application for Admission

A critical element of the review process is the personal statement, which in many ways substitutes for a personal interview. The personal statement may be as long as three pages. We do not have specific questions that you must address in the personal statement; however, we encourage you to provide insights that are not readily apparent through the LSDAS Report, the letters of recommendation, or your resume. For additional information regarding the personal statement, you may wish to review an article written by our associate dean.

Join us for an Open House

You are invited to participate in one of the upcoming Open House programs for prospective applicants. Open House programs are scheduled on the following dates:

* Thursday, October 18
* Friday, November 9
* Thursday, November 15

Each Open House will include a presentation regarding the School of Law's academic program and admission requirements, a tour of the Law School and Law Library, the opportunity to attend a class, and a student-panel presentation. Wednesdays and Thursdays' Open House programs begin at 8:20 and conclude by 11:30; Friday programs will begin at 9:15 and conclude at 12:15pm. To confirm your attendance, please complete an online RSVP Form not later than two days prior to the Open House program of your choice. Space is limited, so early registration is suggested.

Online Chat Sessions

The Office of Admissions will host three online chat sessions for individuals who are interested in learning more about the School of Law . Prospective applicants for the Fall 2008 and 2009 entering classes as well as individuals who are simply exploring law as a possible career choice are encouraged to join us for a chat session. Each chat session will provide the opportunity to ask questions of current students, graduates of the Law School , members from the Office of Admissions, and staff from the Office of Student Services.

Chat Sessions will be held on the following dates. We look forward to "meeting" you online!

Wednesday, October 17, 6:00-8:30pm
Tuesday, November 6, 6:00-8:30pm
Tuesday, December 4, 1:00 to 3:30 p.m.

To join our chat, simply click here.
